Since my last blog post I have ventured 30 miles north of LA to a place called Ventura.
Continuing with the couch surfing, my new host (Andrew) and I hit it off straight away. Minutes after meeting it felt like I'd known him for years and in no time we were out in the ocean catching some waves.
We returned to the surf spot where I went two months ago; surfers point also known as c-street (pictured).
After catching a few waves, we had a BBQ in the back yard with Andrews house mate Shelby and next door neighbour Jenna.
The evening moved on to their local bar the bench, where I was challenged to a game of darts by Shelby. She won the first and I won the second game, which means we will need to reschedule a decider!
Yesterday I experienced the Santa Ana wind, which is an unusual type of strong warm wind that occurs from time to time. This unfortunately had an undesired effect on the waves and as a result we were forced to have a day off.
I decided to make it a productive one by laying in the back yard soaking up the rays (not a bad plan b to surfing). During the evening I rekindled the magic of Thai cooking I learned in Bangkok and prepared Red Thai curry for everyone.
Shelby took me up to a lookout point called Gant Park. It provided magnificent panoramic views of the city.
On our return Andrew took me downtown to watch some live music. The atmosphere was relaxed and not too busy, but had a great vibe all the same.
Today the surf was back on. We caught some good waves and saw some professionals kicking back which looked awesome.
For our post surf meal we went to Spencer Makenzies for some giant fish tacos. This is where we went two months ago when I was staying in Santa Barbara. My friends Marco, Reuben and Sophie will remember this well.
It's now time to move on up to Santa Barbara where I will be mixing couch surfing and hostelling, and I'm sure there will be some partying thrown in also!
