Yesterday we booked a half day hike up onto the glacier, we woke up this morning and went to the place, where we got kitted out, with boots, and crampons. We went over to the glacier and walked towards it for around an hour. it is massive! There were boulders the size of houses that had just fallen from the top of the glacier - we were told it happens everyday so you just gotta watch out!
We actually got to see a huge chunk of ice fall off the side of the glacier, it happened because there was a small earthquake.
Anyway we hiked up this amazing glacier for a few hours and it really was amazing, the ice was blue beacuse of the light waves. The hiking was quite tricky at some points and we nearly slipped over but it was all good. We did that and came home, I wished we had done the full day but money and time wouldnt allow it.
We got back around 2 and did some laundry and then sunbathed for a few hours then got on a bus down to the next glacier; Fox Glacier. It is only 30mins down the road. We're here now, but there are no cash machines and beacuse Chris didnt get money out me and Jason had to bail him out so we have no money for a few days... ahwell good way to save it.
We're here for 2 nights then we are off on a 10hr bus joureny to Queenstown, to jump of a 442ft gondola with some elastic tied to our feet!!! I can't wait!
Not much else to report on, its going to be nice weather for a few more days, which is lucky as it's supposed to be real crap in the south island.
Well im off to chill out and watch the sun set over the glacier... by the way how is England?! ha ha ha
