Stu & Amy See The World!
Sydney, 16th February - 20th February 2006
Unbelievably it started to rain as we arrived in Sydney. We hadn't seen rain in ages and had to touch it just to see how it felt and to remind ourselves.
Thankfully this stopped pretty soon after and we got a taxi to our hostel (great taxi drivers in Sydney by the way, really chirpy and good humoured).
We had a twin room which we quickly converted into a double (Carole Smilie eat your heart out) and went out for a CURRY which was unbelievably good. Stu asked for Chicken Tikka Balti (which was not on the menu) and the chef rustled it right up. Bottle of wine, great.
In the morning we went into town and did the sights, the Rocks, Sydney Harbour etc. And we were lucky enough to see the QE2 boat leaving the harbour, surely too good a photo opportunity to turn down. Weather is 28 degrees and pretty good.
We also went to the Maritime museum (cause it was free) and then to the crime museum (strange that the aussies would want to play up the old criminal and convict thing) Both were informative and we felt that we earned the bottle of wine that night as we met Lisbeth (whom we had previously met in Chiang Mai). The pie and mash that night was particularly satisfying as well (Aussies do unbelievably good pies by the way).
The next day we spent by the beach trying (and succeeding) mostly to get burnt but stu did a bit of body surfing and we also went for a swim and had a picnic. The views were fantastic.
We left for Adelaide on the 20th of February and we were really looking forward to it (surprise surprise).
Lots of love
Stu & Amy.
