Airlie, heading South. North Queenslands was tropical, green, lush and quiet...the bugs are getting less, not so many geckos. As we left Cairns, Airlie was busy, alot more happening, great atmosphere, found a great bar for pool, good prices for grub and beer! Beer pong contests nightly! Winner. Did a xmas recce, think the guys will love it. Sail boat booked for trip out to Whitsundays, buzzin! We cant wait for the girls and guys to join us on the 22nd! Woop...

Outback to Cairns, 25-27th Nov. Last leg of the outback, from the Northern Territory, 2 days driving to hit the Queensland coast, including the mandatory pit stops every 10 mins for the Sheilas. Two overnight stops were the only thing between us and the sea, one of which we wont be forgetting in a hurry. The artifical horse on the roof of the hotel/saloon should've prepared us for what was inside... fully made up mannequins sat at the bar, completed with feather...

Kakadu National Park On route to Kakadu, we drove through downpours, lighting bolts, strong winds and a bushfire,.... all at 30 odd degrees! Having reached Kakadu NP, we walked to a look out, explored a river bank and stopped for the night in Cooinda Lodge. This was lush! Pool, bar, and good facilities. Broome, into the outback.... Left Broome, the long, never ending roads began! Terrain changed from flat plains, with roaming cattle, roos and emus, to rocky valleys, miles of burnt land from bush fires. The occasional road house gave a brief relief from driving, good wee stop and a coffee. The fuel pumps are labelled different from road house to road house, at one i had to sniff the pump to ensure its was petrol not diesel...the old boy with his 3 legged dog ...

Hot, sweaty and drives are getting longer.... Karijini NP, gorge walks, rivers and plains. The rivers and waterfalls hidden away in the gorges are spectacular, clear and haven for wildlife, including large lizards, Goana's. The locals don't drive after dusk or before dawn if they can help it, to minise risk of striking cattle and wildlife, were doing the same. Flies are everywhere.
