Hi guys sorry this has taken so long to update, Australia cost a lot to use the Internet so aside from
Quick Facebook updates i didn't blog. Cairns was our next destination and apart from the lengthy wait to get picked up from the airport it really was amazing. We spent the first couple of days arranging trips, our hostels and transport on the greyhound and just wondering around cairns. The weather was beautiful , the hostel was nice and the food at the hostel was cheap and delicious. On day four we arranged to go on a trip called uncle brians tour which took us to the rainforest, and also to slide down waterfalls, swim under the waterfall from Peter Andre's mysterious girl video and also swimming in a volcanic crater. The tour was led by cousin brad who was driver of the Gus bus who provided endless entertainment and had us rolling about in our seats all day with laughter. Their really wasn't a dull moment and although the fresh water was absolutely freezing. At one point we had to look under our seats and found tambourines. It was such a fun experience. On the journey back we had a good old sing song and arrived back at the hostel extremely exhausted from all the days excitement. We went to bed as soon as we got back ready for our next trip the following day to the great barrier reef on the reef experience. We had to awake rather early to be collected by the shuttle to the quay. As predicted they only had a reservation for one of us, so with stubborn persuasion and a receipt for payment they took both of us to the boat. The trip we booked allowed us to try scuba diving briefly and a great deal of time snorkelling. We met a Scottish girl who came out snorkelling with us and in total I spent about 2 hours snorkelling at the reef which was beautiful. Unfortunately most of the pictures from the underwater camera didn't turn out well but the memories will always stay with me. From the boat we were also lucky enough to see a whale and dolphins. I had a chance to try scuba diving but unfortunately I struggled with the breathing so was unable to do it. I was a little disappointed however I have reminded myself that I had been unwell for about 6 months prior and am still not quite back to normal so listening to my body was the best idea. All in all the trip was lovely. It was a beautiful day, the water was clear and I was surprised how comfortable i was on a boat. When I'm rich I might have to buy one. That pretty much sums up cairns, a beautiful city and lots of fun things to do. After cairns we got the greyhound to Airlie Beach. Next blog, Whitsundays and more sailing.
