The land of fine wine andsuper steaks. Perfect, and there are even espresso cafes everywhere. How very civilised. Argentina is certainly a place of more improved infrastructure than it's south american counterparts with loads of paved roads, nice architecture, better hygiene and just a safer feel about it.
Our first meal is you guessed it, steak and red wine. They're not huge fans of vegies over here and some waiters call you a girl if you order salad. For brunch the next day it's a beef sandwich and for dinner that night it's a bife de chorizo straight off the flame grill. It was an emotional experience I can tell you!
That night we smoke cigars with glases of cognac and watch the locals wander into the night district. They start partying late here (around 3am) and so Allart and I venture in to see what it's all about. For a city of half a million people I have never seen anything like this. There's a cross roads of four blocks totally dominated by restaurants, bars, pubs and clubs. Saltenos of all ages are out and the streets are rammed full of party goers. It's amazing and we end up in a club where I am definitely the oldest person there and Allart (Dutch) is definitely the tallest, needless to say that we stand out.
Salta was a great place to commence the Argentine assault but I can't help but feel there's much better to come.
