3rd July to 7 July
3rd-4 July Koitiata Park NZMCA just before you get to Wanganui.
What a pretty spot it was. We had power but no water, fortunately for us our tanks were full and we always have portable 20-25 litre containers too.
It was small and we had another caravan on site with us, but wouldn’t be able to get another on unless it was a campervan. But the facilities were awesome.
On our way from Plimmerton and to Koitiata we happened to notice RJ’s licorice factory shop and it could be said we bought one or two delicacies
Ohh did I also mention Yarrows Bakery factory shop that jumped out at us and we felt in order to be good travellers we should support the town of Manaia, and stock up on sultana cake a big slab, they even made sultana scones, we included a number of Apple danish and other assortments that would make your mouth water.
5 July POP - Openlands.
Our beautiful hostess Marie and her trusty stead Rosie the Jack Russell terrier welcome us to a tranquil, blissful garden setting for us to relax and enjoy.
The setting was exquisite and we were given a tour of the property she owned. 300 acres but we had access to 2 acres.
Marie and her late husband had rescued a Church that was to be demolished and had it done up and put on their property as well as a Dolls House with every delight a little girl could ever want.
Nestled in the garden was a water tank, but on closer inspection we saw it was a WC. My first experience of visiting the inside of this huge water tank with all the bits and pieces you would expect of a WC. Miles of room you could even do a twirl in there.
We are definitely going back.
6-7 Bellblock New Plymouth
Mokau
On our way from New Plymouth to Kinloch, we found the whitebait fritter capital of NZ and of course had to stop there.
