The Central Business District (or CBD) pretty much does what it says on the tin. Towering offices and power suits all over the place. Great place to spend day 2 of life donw-under. On the other hand, it seems that the relative dullness of some jobs - let's say (jsu becauise we're chatting...) accountancy - is counterbalanced by the stonking views they give themselves. In today's case, from 200 feet up a tower near the lower end of George St, you get an interesting view onto the harbour, the bridge and the opera house. If that's the price of a life spent counting beans, who are we to quibble?
I commuted in at rush hour - very nice (almost Swiss-clean) double decker train. Nowhere near Northern Line horror conditions on the train or at the CBD station. Quite refreshing in many ways.
And we got a few rays of Sydnety-side sunshine (until it started raining again). There are forecasts of the low-to-mid 30's further inland - just where I am heading over the week-end.
Funny thing; I have told almost every Australian I've met that I'm heading for Dubbo and Mudgee. But none of them seem that impressed. What dark secrets lurk in the history of these places???
At any rate, for the time being the work is over and the exploration can begin in earnest.
