Steve and Lorna gallavanting around the world
BOLIVIA (21 days)Our first town were we spent a few days - the hippy style town of Copacabana. Had some time out and relaxing after much go go go! Next upto the highest capital in the World - La Paz 3650m above sea level. A city of many markets, cobbled hilled streets and fab resturants. Lots of shopping done! Next up we plucked up the courage and did indeed mountain bike down "the most dangerous road in the World". Holy Moly!!!!! My knuckles were white, sweat pouring & nerves on end.... and am rather certain the brake pads were very very well used throughout!... no injuries or crashes. Thank God! It was a 64km mountain bike experience we will never ever forget. Downhill for majority so pretty hairy with dealing speed and dust - let alone the trucks and buses on the single lane. If anything what an achievement and one for the book.We then spent a very chilled out time at an animal rehab hostel before an 18hour bus journey from hell to Rurrenbaqe (were we did our Amazon-Pampas tour) The road this time was just as bad as the worlds most dangerous (curious to know who gives out the names to these roads) No sleep, 2 blowouts, then picture pushing a bus to jump start and an incredibly bumpy bumpy ride our bums are still tender! Not the best expereince by any means. With that under our belt we opted for the return flight to La Paz after our Pampas tour. The Pampas tour was 3 days, great time, loads of crocs, amazing birds, PINK dolphins, anacondas and fishing for piranhas...yup I caught my very first fish... a piranha!!!! Even swam with the pink fresh water dolphins.... uhmmm yeah the same waters where the crocs and piranhas swam too.... We had a great bunch of 8 other travellers - so never a dull moment. Wonderful hot humid weather -absolutly fab after being at such high altitudes with cool temperatures like La Paz.We had our 19 seater flight back to the big city (bumpy as hell and I have realised I am becoming a more nervous flyer.... but it was beautiful) Anyhow we are safely in La Paz with clean clothes and have a 10hr bus journey to Potosi which is the highest town in the World. No doubt it is going to be freeezing! But from there we head to Uyuni to the Worlds largest salt flats (we seem to be doing all the "worlds most....") Then onto Argentina to the city of Salta before heading to Iguazu Falls to then cross the border to Brazil to our final city of Rio.
