So here we are in Uruguay. We left Colonia Pellegrini yesterday morning at 4.00am and five buses later arrived at a hostel in the Uruguayian border town of Salto. The journey was a bit of an adventure as we didn't really know where we were going. We left on a port-a-cabin on wheels along a dirt track with some fairly alarming bangs and cracks coming from the bus as we bumped our way down the track for 3 hours to Mercedes, somehow I managed to sleep despite being jerked around, obviously Alison had been sound asleep for some time by then. We then got a bus to Monte Cassaro which (we think) we were told was a nice little town near the Uruguayian border. Now first appearances can be deceiving but as we pulled into Monte Cassaro I had to pull Alison away from the badly dubbed film she was watching to show her out the window. The quaint little town we thought we were told about (our translation may be at fault here) seemed to basically be one road of pretty run down buildings. Not waiting to find out we jumped off that bus and jumped onto the only other bus there which was headed for Concordia where we got our 4th bus to Salto, halting for what looked like the Tour de Uruguay, before one final bus to the hostel.
