Cuenca was the perfect place to relax and catch our breath after the Galapagos. It´s a beautiful city, with unesco world heritage status, on account of the fact it is teeming with churches (I think about 60) and old buildings. We weren´t exactly the ideal tourists for the town though as we didn´t explore a fraction of what´s on offer and instead spent most of our 3 days here playing cards with Lars, Louise and Guy, who we met on the Rumba. Others came and went but the 5 of us have become a sadly addicted group of individuals, playing `Yaniv`for most of our waking hours.
It would have been a good time to learn some more Spanish and Lars has put us to shame as he makes the effort to study for an hour each day. Maybe he has taken it a little far though as he is now carrying an 800 page volume on corporate finance, in Spanish.
Our friendship and addiction will continue now as we are all heading to Vilcabamba together, for some hill walking and horse riding.
