We arrived in Namibia a few days ago and spent our first afternoon in a Cheetah park where they rescue Cheetahs and rehabilitate them, that was good to see - I like Cheetahs but these won't be released back in to the wild which is a shame. Our campsite for the first two days was in the middle of Etosha national park, so we had another game drive through the plains and after four and a bit weeks me and Alex were a bit game drived out! The new guys wanted to stop for birds and deer and elephant s*** that we've seen a thousand times before. We had a laugh about it though, cos as they were all taking photos of bambi we were taking photos of each other making stupid faces. Anyway then we grew up! and when we got to our stop we were told about a natural watering hole right next to the campsite. We sat there from nine o'clock until about half eleven in total amazement. We saw five Rhino and a baby only about 20 metres away from us, loads of giraffe - they are funny when they drink - apparently they dislocate their shoulders - they do the splits it's hilarious. Then we could hear the Hyenas and that was well funny, there was about a hundred people sat watching this watering hole in total silence it was amazing but after we heard the Hyenas me and Alex laughed aswell - people weren't impressed! Then the lions came down for a drink, we just couldn't believe what we were seeing in just one night. So that night was well good!
After we left Etosha we had a long drive into the Namibian desert and stopped at Spitzkoppe mountain which was similar to how I imagine Ayers Rock to be, we climed the mountains and looked at some bushmen paintings that were in the caves. there were some amazing views there. But when it came to pitching up our tents, most of us decided we would sleep under the stars - that was well cool! I counted about ten shooting stars - the sky at night here really is something else - apparently we can't see aswell at home because of light pollution?
Today we went to the coast to see the seals - we saw about 100,000 seals and seal cubs and they stunk beyond belief the dirty pigs! but what a sight - we even saw one being born! Dunno whats coming up next for us - oh, I've got my skydive tomorrow I am s***ting it - nuff said about that I'm sweating already! We're also going to bash some sand dunes with our quadbikes - I'm looking forward to that!
I was looking back at some of the photos I've taken I can't wait to put them on here to show you, then you can see what I've been rambling on about! Ok, well that's it for now! Thank you again for keeping in touch, see you!
