Arrived in Kendwa today, this is the idyllic Zanzibar one thinks of when they think Zanzibar. Spent my first day in a hammock on the beach only moving for lunch, a brief walk and to book some diving for the next day. On Thursday I went diving, it was awesome, even managed to see a turtle! I arrived on Zanzibar using the "fast ferry" which was $10 more than the slow ferry and in the end only half an hour faster - ah well that's life. The view approaching Stone Town is beautiful. Stone Town itself is strange, it has a front of grand buildings (many of them now in disrepair). Behind that is a labyrinth of weaving streets with hundreds of little houses interspersed with cathedrals, a mosque and other large religious/historical buildings. ...

I arrived in Dar es Salaam airport at around 7am after quite a nice BA flight. For anyone who's planning on visiting it costs $100 for Irish (& American) people to enter tanzania and only $50 for all other people (but don't worry I think I make it back in Zambia).
