We got back to Quito in the afternoon and had enough time to organise a trip for the following day to Mindo cloud forest. We then met Moriah, Nick, Val and Robert from our Galapagos trip for dinner. We had a nice dinner followed as always by a drink or two! The following morning we got up for our trip to Mindo. It started with a visit to a butterfly house which was nice! We got to see lots of butterflies and some hummingbirds. From here we headed up to one of the entrances to the cloud forest. Here we got on a cable car and swooped across the valley to the cloud forest!
We embarked on a really nice walk which brought us to 5 different waterfalls which fairly spectacular. Walking through the forest itself was also really nice - we almost saw a monkey but it ran off before we got a proper look! We finished the walk and returned to the village of Mindo for lunch. The other optional activities included zip wires, horse riding and tubing. We didn't fancy the first 2 but were quite keen on the tubing (well Em and I were). Em and I have both been to New Zealand where we did tubing which was a nice gentle trip down a river. And this is what we were expecting. Sanchia on the other hand has only white water rafted (and had a fairly horrific experience) and was a little more apprehensive! I'd love to say Emma and I were right but we weren't! It was quite the adventure, flying down rapids in freezing cold water literally holding on tight for dear life - which I still enjoyed (which is maybe why Sanchia gave me a few punches). We survived and then returned to Quito, had a bit of a chill and then went and met Nick and Moriah for our final night in Quito.
