Hi All!
We're still in good old Perth, Western Australia babysitting my Auntie's house while she suns it up in Bangkok.
Our first week here was very eventful. We got shown around King's Park by my Auntie, which is a huge piece of "bush" in the centre of the city. There was a botanical garden, a tree-top trail and a "DNA" tower which was designed in a helix shape.
We went down to Fremantle, "Freo!" for the day and went on the prison tour there as well as visiting a fine Fish and Chips shop down on the harbour.
The next day was spent on Rottnest island, "Rotto!" where we saw a little marsupial called a Quokka. Essentially, it is a rat but slightly bigger, and with a pouch and a bounce much like a kangaroo. We cycled pretty much all the way around the island, so we were both surprised at our fitness levels.
We also went to Cohunu Koala Park where we got to hold and feed a Koala and got to feed the kangaroos. They are not so keen on the holding! Leah made the mistake of feeding popcorn to a deer, which followed us around for a few minutes. We were deliberating whether we'd have to take him home
!However, things came to a halt after this as we both fell victim to a stomach bug for, well, a week.
We recovered yesterday to go to the Ascot races, don't you know, what what! A jolly spiffing time was had by all and the weather was splendid. We both picked two from eight winners so I guess we'll still be looking for work soon. Booo!
Today, we saw the Perth Glory football team beat Sydney FC by a whopping 2 goals to 1! A bit of a shock result and it'd have been even better if we weren't munching on our half-time feast in the shade at the back of the stand when Perth scored the winner on 46 minutes. A particular highlight was the home fans chant everytime the Sydney goalkeeper kicked the ball:" Ooooooooooooooh. You fat b@**#%d, You fat b@**#%d, You fat b@**#%d! You're s@#t! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!"
And finally, not even an hour ago, we found a red back spider in the house and tag teamed it with bug spray and a fly swatter. A job most well done. To those not in the know, red backs are not good news!!!
Anyway, I hope all is well with everyone. Leave us a message to let us know how you all are!Later,
