Well, it's with some regret and much anticipation that we announce that we are leaving Australia. Oh, you already knew? Never mind my grand introduction then.
We have been in Australia since October 4th 2008, which in calendar terms is about 1 year and 3 months. However, seeing as technically we have experienced three years in Australia (2008, 2009 and 2010), I'm going to say that we have spent three years here! Sounds impressive, eh?
Every good TV series has an episode with a montage of highlights from previous episodes as it saves money and saves writers from being too creative. With the latter reason in mind, our final blog from Australia is going to be a creatively stifling highlight reel.
We've been to many sporting events: Many Essendon Bombers games, a Wallabies Rugby Union game, Tiger Woods last professional tournament before his legend was born, two rather dull test cricket matches, three exceedingly dull football matches, a Red Bull air race, two horse race meets, the Australian Open tennis and the Australian Grand Prix.
Between us, we saw Pink sing about how poor her relationship was with her husband before conveniently making up with him after selling a billion copies of her album to love starved females across the globe. We saw Black Eyed Peas, Biffy Clyro, Kaiser Chiefs, Madness, a 44 year old welsh woman called Duffy, Snow Patrol and the legend, Vanilla Ice. Also, Ross Noble was witnessed wittering on about some nonsense that we can't remember but laughed a lot at.
We visited every state and territory in Australia and all capitals apart from Darwin. Chuffed!
We went up to some high heights: Sydney Tower, Sydney Harbour Bridge, Mount Wellington, Eureka Tower, Mount Lofty and Cradle Mountain. Pleasing!
We saw two natural wonders of the world: Uluru and the Great Barrier Reef. Wow!
Look, basically, we kicked Australia's arse! We did everything that we wanted to do and saw everything that we wanted to see. Our price for this pleasure was a year of teaching maths but looking back, this was worth it - just!
Thank you, to our avid readers (Aline and Maureen) for checking in to our blog on occasion.
We are going to be blogging from NZ and Canada soon.
A goodnight to Australia, and to Australia, goodnight!
