Hello there!! An update from our Journey Home (the long way). We spent a fab fortnight in beautiful New Zealand, touring both the North and South islands. A lot of driving, a lot of sightseeing - we really enjoyed it. The people were so friendly and their accents made us laugh, Australian but with the vowels all mangled! We arrived in Wellington, headed South and drove a hirecar round via Queenstown, lakes, Haast pass, glaciers, Arthurs pass, mountains, lord of the rings country on a loop back to Christchurch. We then did another relocation rental of a camper from there to Auckland via Waitomo caves and Raglan. It was great.
We flew out of Auckland on Sunday 31st in the afternoon, only to arrive before we left in L.A. First time crossing the international date line, quite confusing! We had the whole day to enjoy the delights of the city, so we did a bus tour of all the sights run by the cheesiest guy on the planet, way to go, like totally awesome!!! Highlights included Rodeo drive, Beverley Hills, the Hollywood sign, The chinese theatre, farmer's market, Hollywood boulevard, Venice beach...that's all I can remember right now...(bit of a jetlagged adventure) but it was cool. So glad we decided to do it cause L.A.X is a bit of a dump considering it's one of the busiest airports in the world- there is nothing there!
We then took a flight with Alaska airlines up to Vancouver to be met at the airport by Greg and the delightful Dalal. Great to see them, even more great they came with a car!! Back at their cute apartment in Kitsalino I met my favourite nephew Raglan who is such a fun puppy (except the poor thing is teething right now).
So, that pretty much brings the blog up to date as we have been here the past few nights and are enjoying the Canadian winter (erm...) and pre-Olympic excitement of Vancouver. It is a great city, have even been searching for teaching opportunities in BC....mmm....
Hope everyone is well, not long til I'm home to catch up...yipeeeee!
