I don't have much to say about Vilnius as we weren't there for long, but what I can say is that it is an absolutely stunning little city! I feel like it would be one of those places that westerners never bother going to, but by not going they are really missing out.
We were really lucky because there has just been heavy snowfall across Eastern Europe - so Vilnius was absolutely coated in it! For me it was the most exciting thing ever since I've barely seen snow in my whole life! And this was real snow - not just a bit of frosting :)
This probably is a bit boring but I found it interesting. We had our breakfast in a cute little cafe and I had the tastiest hot drink I've ever bad! A peppermint mocha :-) I also had a veggie and cheese wrap which was super weird. Maybe it's a Lithuanian thing because our friend Dave who was with us has been to Lithuania before and noticed the same thing - but the wraps are ridiculously oily. Literally to the point that your hands are totally soaked in it and it is dripping out of the bottom! Not really interesting sorry, but thought it was worth mentioning :)
Vilnius has a mixture of different architectures. I really love visiting these fonder Soviet Union countries because there's always such sharp contrasts! Super old beautiful buildings which have been restored, dirty grey soviet style apartment blocks and new modern business buildings.
We also went for a nice walk up a hill to get a nice view of a city! It really was beeeeeaaautiful! Everything is covered in snow and there's a beautiful little river going through the city too. There was also a a castle at the top! Whilst most of the castle was destroyed, it was still a nice experience.
Right now we are on a bus to Riga. We will be there for longer so hopefully I will have to write :) but basically Vilnius was beautiful, Wintery and somewhere I would say everyone should spend a weekend!
P.s. I would very, very highly recommend luxexpress buses. Seriously they are by far the best buses we have used yet! Free wifi, unlimited hot drinks, toilet, screens in seats with movies, music, games etc!
