So the trip to Fraser went ahead and it was awesome!! Got to drive a 4x4 with 10 other ppl in it!!! - tad scary!!
The 3 days on the island were spent camping on the beach, walking to various gorgeous fresh water lakes, running up and down sand dunes, washing up in the sea!!! (an experience to say the least) and driving down incredibly uncomfy roads!!
It was so much fun and we got to the sun rise and the moon rise- yes i did write that correctly- we were sat on the beach and the moon actually rose just like the sun does into the sky!! The stars were amazing and besides the few dingoes that lurked around there were no problems!!!
So after leaving fraser island and heading bk to Rainbow beach we left for The town of 1770- discovered by James Cook sailing up the east coast in 1770 funnily enough!! We booked into our hostel called Cool Bananas!!! and the we went on Scooteroo's!!! Got up to 40mph!!! Amazing thrill- paul im going on yours wen i get bk!!! we did a three hr ride around the town and stopped at sunset for wedges on the beach!!
We then went out to the only bar- the tavern to celebrate paddy's day!!!
The next day we headed to Kroombit cattle station- where we did a goat muster on horseback!! it was so much fun!! my horse was called grace and she was a bit stubborn and tried to chuck me off twice!! lol. But we successfully rounded up all the goats and then rode through the river on horseback!! we went bk to the ranch for a goat rodeo where I lasso'd a goat first time around!!! we had to lasso it then tip it on the floor and pretend to brand it- my group came second!!! we then went on a mechanical bull which i fell off in less than a second!!! tried some bushtucker- which was goat- which is surprisingly nice!! we spent the rest of the evening playing some fun games and whip cracking!!! which i was really good at!!!
After the cattle station we headed to Airlie beach- a 10 hour bus ride!!! But ive been readinmg the book Twilight- which is so good!! and we got to watch a film on the bus too so not all bad!!
Arrived in airlie beach and checked in for our boats before having a meal with the group from the bus.
Friday 20th- left for the Whitsunday Islands also discovered by James Cook but in 1777, on our boat- Boomerang- with 27 ppl plus crew!!! It was so amazing!!! we got fed fresh pineapple, melon and oranges as soon as we got on and we sailed to our stop for the night n had a swim in our stinger suits before having nachos for a snack!! and then bbq chicken for dinner under the stars with the wind in our hair!
Saturday we sailed to go snorkelling on the barrier reef- which was so amazing!! spent most of the day chilling on tjhe boat but also stopped at Whitehaven beach- which is utterly gorgeous!!! so stunning!!! so i wrote my name in the sand- photos to follow!! had so much food- fruit, sauasages n pasta salad for lunch, platters with dips for snacks and spag bol for dinner followed by cake biscuits tea and coffee!!! heaven!!
On sunday we did a bit more snorkelling and thenh sailed properly- the boat tipping right over- all the way back to Airlie beach!! I had such an amazing time- and will be coming home convincing Dad to buy a sailing boat!!!
Lots of love xxxxxxx
