Back in our patagonian base, Puerto Natales, for our last night in Chile, we treated ourselves to an Argentian-style pizza and red wine. We stayed at a cool little hostel called the Tin House. It felt good to be back in Puerto Natales after the touristy El Calafate. Unlike El Calafate, Puerto Natales feels like a real town. This probably because the inhabitants make a living from something other than tourism; mainly mining and fishing.
The slighly ramshackle colourful tin houses and the stunning views down to the fjords also make Puerto Natales a very beautiful place.
The next day involved a mammoth journey: first we had to catch a bus 3 hours further south to Punta Arenas, then fliy first back to Puerto Montt, then Santiago before catching our flight to Auckland, New Zealand, and then an internal flight to Christchurch. Sad to leave, we resolved to come back to patagonia. Hasta la vista!
