Here I am in drizzly Wellington!!!! Flew here this morning from Hamilton. Plane was delayed because of fog in Wellington. Celia,s friend, Rosie, was to meet me at the airport but because of the delay, Plan B had to go into effect, as Rosie had a meeting she had to attend. So took the shuttle from the airport to downtown and found my way to the building where her meeting was. Left my luggage and walked to one of the most amazing museum,s (free too) called Te Papa. I spent about 3 1/2 hours there and only did the Maori part. I will probably go back again. Then met Rosie, who lives right on the Bay, so a beautiful view. I have my own room and bath, quite luxurious I must say. She has just retired from teaching English as a second language as well as teaching how to concisely and accurately do medical writing. She is also a nurse, and has travelled to Tibet to teach health in the small viillages. She is a keen skier and has skiied in BC as well as other places in the world, a quilter, a cyclist (biking tours) and of course did some mountain hiking in Tibet. She is leaving in a couple of weeks for a 2 month tour in Europe. Amazing and inspiring lady.
When arriving here, the vista reminded me of Newfoundland, with the homes built in the hills surrounding the water. It was a rough descent and I later found out this is the 3rd windiest city in the world. The pilot sure hung on to that plane!
