So weve been in Ottawa for three days now and its our last night before we go to Toronto, and flukily enough weve done it again!!!

by pure coincidence weve managed to be in the capital of canada for canada day, not only that but its the 150th birthday too so extra big celebrations!!!!

Firstly though, a word about the hostel!! when we arrived we were not sure what to think of the hostel, we were offered a choice of two rooms: semi private room or an 8 bed dorm, we decided to see both rooms before deciding. so to the semi private rooms, we were taken into the basement and shown to what was basically a huge room divided into rooms, not by walls though, by bedsheets, suddenly semi private became clear to us. So off to look at the 8 bed dorm, we were taken to the 3rd floor and shown the room which was perfecly fine, apart from the tiny detail that there was another bed sheet where the glass should be in the window, so our choice was either bed sheets for walls or bed sheets for windows. we chose the latter, figuring that as we were 3 floors up we were ok!!

However not to let this dampen our spirits (and after we were told we could bring our own drink into this hostel) we went out and bought some spirits!! we sat in the common room and had a few drinks with the people we met in there and went out for some drinks with them too. in true kelly style she promptly killed half a bottle of vodka and her head was doing a very good impression of a bowling ball on a spring all night!!

So the next day was Canada day, we went up to parliament hill into the square to watch the celebrations with a bunch of people from the hostel, the concert and performances were all good, except one. for some reason they had a woman perform who was a throat singer, and that was exactly what she was, it was awfull, she sounded like a scary gremlin breathing, very strange indeed, no doubt if she were performing in england she would be promptly bottled off the stage! there was a real good fireworks display at the end of the night and then it was off into town, however it was so busy and full of wasted canadians (to girls having a wee in a shop doorway on the main street was the highlight) we all decided to head back to the hostel and play some drinking games!!

Despite unusual use of bedsheets the hostel was a really amazing place and we met lots of really cool people here and had a really fantastic time and we'll be sorry to leave!! Any way its off to toronto tomorrow for another stage of the adventure!! Pictures to follow we promise!!

P.S Quote of the week : "Have you heard the myth that if you drink too much red bull and alcohol then it has the effect of an exctasy tablet? Well, its not a myth!!" Not sure ourselves about that one as weve definitely suvived a few redbull & vodka nights at uni with no ill effects except a bad head in the morning!!

Oh! Just another thing! As you can see we've managed to upload some photos! However, as you can all tell they have come out in a very weird order and are currently all over the place, and some are still the wrong way round!  However, once i got a spare hour or so, i will be putting them in order and putting them the right way up for you all!
