We had breakfast in a little cafe next door to the motel and decided to wander through town in search if a shop that had been recommended to us, in order to see if we could get Cerys' iPhone fixed - as the power button seemed to be stuck down.
When we got there, the woman said that the repairs done on it before were pretty shoddy, as some chrome trim hadn't been put back in properly. We tutted and commented on the cowboys that must have done it, stopping short of saying that it was Stef's first attempt at iPhone repairs.
While we waited for them to fix it, we carried on wandering around town, which, like most NZ cities, seemed a little bit random, with new and old buildings clustered together, with no obvious attention paid to zoning.
When we picked up the phone, the power button worked, but unfortunately it still restarted itself at random, so we decided we'd need to try reinstalling software when we got home.
After that, we headed to Te Papa Museum where we listened to a talk about the Māori People's Journey by a guy with the traditional full-face tattoos, and had a quick look round before going for lunch in Burgerfuel - a chain that had been recommended by Ben back in Tauranga.
We then returned to the museum to carry on looking round the Blood, Earth and Fire exhibition, which looked at man's impact on NZ, and an exhibition about earthquakes and the geology of the islands, before having a cuppa and a slice of brownie in the cafe. Museum going is tiring!
By this time, it was about 4pm, so we went back to the motel to get some laundry done and have a little rest before going out to meet Rex and Emily - a couple from Wellington who we met on the Milford trek.
We met up with them in a bar, The Tasting Rooms, round the corner from the motel, then headed for a very tasty, fishy dinner in a local eatery, Duke Carvell's. A good night all round.
