We woke up reasonably early and got a taxi to the bus depot and grabbed a bus heading to Dubai. It was a long hour journey but there was free WIFI on board so we had something to do! We got off next to the metro and we hopped onto the metro to Dubai Mall. After a short journey we arrived at Dubai mall, we pretty much kept refuge in here! It was way too hot outside! We did venture outside to tried to take a picture of the Burj Khalifa but my camera steamed up so we had to head back inside to get it de-misted!
We grabbed some lunch in the mall before we headed up to the top of the Burj Khalifa, luckily someone had told us before hand than the entrance to the top is inside the mall! We got in the lift we headed up to the top in record time! The Burj is the worlds tallest manmade structure in the world at 829.8 meters tall. It was pretty impressive view from the top and it was pretty breezy and hot still!
My camera faired well so we decided to head back outside to take a view of the Burj Khalifa. It was so high my eyes hurt from looking up with the sun in the back ground. My pictures looked kind of murky but thats properly the heat too! We had a walked around old Dubai before we got too hot and headed back inside the mall.
We decided that we would heat to the Atlantis hotel rather than stay and watch the fountains. We thought we would try and walk, but was way too hot and too far so we went to the nearest hotel and grabbed at taxi. I think the taxi driver ripped us off but pfft! Whatever! We arrived at the hotel with is on the palm, it was CRAZY! They have way too much money! There was a steak house that was which had one item on the menu for $250!!! Who has that kind of money?!
We decided not to eat there and we headed back to the bus stop via a taxi! We missed the first bus by 5 minutes as we didn't understand why it cost us more money to go home. We worked out why in the end as we need to buy a special pass to let us on! We had to wait an hour for the next bus which wasn't too bad. We were worried at one point when there was a ton of people queuing when the bus arrived as we thought there would be no seats left. Everything was ok and we jumped on the bus and headed back to Abu Dhabi. We arrived at the bus stop and grabbed a taxi back to the hotel.
We had dinner at the hotel in the Italian restaurant before we headed to bed ready for tomorrow.
