Waitomo caves

We ummed and ahhed a little bit about coming here as it seemed like a honey pot for tourists i.e. all the NZ whistle stop tours pass by here and as I'm sure you can appreciate we like to think we are a better class of tourist (just let us think it at least, please!). Anyway we decided to go see them and I am certainly glad we did, we spent a wonderful afternoon in 2 different caves. In one of them we saw thousands of glow worms (no pictures of these as it would have been an exercise in futility) which was mind blowing. A bit of one of David Attenborough's many superb documentaries was filmed here as it's one of the best example of glow worms in the world. In the other cave we saw amazing stalactites and stalagmites and other fantastically strange rock formations, the pictures of the caves may be slightly blurred and poorly lit but they demonstrate what the cave was like way better than I can describe in words...hope you can make sense of them!
