Sa-bai dee
After our night in Hanoi we went to Ha Long bay and Cat Ba island close by. We spent the day on a boat tour and went kayaking around the islands which were stunning. Kayaking was so much fun but got progressively harder due to the numerous water fights flooding our little kayak. We paddled under a small gap in a rock into a huge circle of rock which echoed all of our crazy shouting. We had a sea food BBQ on a little deserted beach which was once again incredible, iv had loads of really good fish, i think i might be over my fish fad Mum n Dad!
The next morn we went back to Hanoi and met up with the new group members for the Laos part of the trip and left that afternoon earlier than planned due to a storm coming in, which was fruitless as we ended up being at the Laos border crossing which happened to be a small building at the top of a huge mountain in the middle of the storm! lol, we got drenched as we were actually in the clouds - they were rolling off the mountains all around us.
My Laos visa, by the way - which i stressed big time over at home was as simple as a straight line and cost only 15 quid and took 5 mins!
We drove through poor small villages similar to those in Cambodia and saw all the open huts again with the ppl doing their daily chores. We arrived in Vietienne, Laos capital and loved it straight away. It was surprisingly quiet for a capital but really beautiful and incredible people, laos ppl have a wicked sense of humour and most speak really good english. That night we went out and i had the best curry iv ever had in my life, it was so good, if i could have packed it up and sent some to my Dad i would have!
After that we went to a few bars and met some locals who took Shari and i to a club on their bikes. The club was awsome, laos pop is excellent i was lovin it!
Im in now in a place called Vang Vieng, well known for water sports especially 'tubing' which we are doing 2mo.
Theres loads more but i have to go and watch the sun set now, hehe!
Lots of Love xxxx
