WOO HOO we broke 1000 miles on our trip!!!!!!!
What a difference a day makes. Lake Erie was beautiful today. We could have not asked for an easy ride. Cleveland is a nice stop, we could have spent many more days exploring. If you are ever near Cleveland make sure you go to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. We spent about three hours there, and could have spent more.
There one disappointment was the Great Lakes Science Center and the William Mather Steamship were closed because of Covid. As we travel more stuff is open, but there are still lots of places either closed or reduced hours. I suspect it is staffing issues more than anything.
Sunday we were going to explore Cleveland by bike, but most of the day it was raining heavily. I went to West Marine with two other Loopers to replace a fender we lost in Lake Ontario. The dock master was nice enough not only to drive us there, he waited while we shopped to bring us back. (When Sabbatical asked about a Uber, he offered to take us.)
I can say the people we have met on this trip have been great. I cannot tell you the number of people who have offered to take us to stores or even lend us their cars. Most of the time we either walk or take our bikes. We tend to save car rides for when either distance or whatever we are getting would make bikes or walking difficult.
We did walk to Heinen's Of Cleveland, an upscale grocery store in and old bank. We did not by much, but it was a fun trip. We were going to buy some wine, but it was a little too upscale for us. They had a rack with wine from $200 to $600. Those prices have two to many zeros for my taste.
Because it was raining we hosted Docktail's on Nothing To Plunder. Docktail's are by definition normally done on the dock. They are a great time to trade stories and plan for the next leg of the trip. We also help each other trouble shoot any boat problems.
Tomorrow we are off to Sandusky OH.
