With an early start we took a very short ride to Albany Yacht Club. It was a very hazy ride. We are still seeing the effects of the Canadian forest fires. While we could very easily made it farther, Albany Yacht Club is very close to a Enterprise Car Rental. (Or at least it was supposed to be) Their web site said that there was a rental office at the train station. It turns out, they will pick you up at the train station, and you can just leave the car there when you return it.
Albany Yacht Club is a great stop, and I wish we were able to spend more time there. Enterprise picked us up at 12:00 and we headed back to New Jersey as soon as we got the car. It is funny that we spent a week traveling by boat, only to be able to drive right back where we started in three and a half hours.
Angel, Ilene and I drove back for one night. We dropped Ilene off at her house, picked up a part for the boat, and headed to Angel's dad's for the night. We spent the night playing Domino's with her Dad and brother. It was good to see them both.
Friday morning we headed to Avalon Marine Center where Sea Fox has been sitting in the yard for the last eight weeks. Sea Fox came out of the water in early April. It was supposed to be out for 1 week, but some parts were not available. We had to wait for the manufacture to make the parts. The repairs are done and both John and I are glad the boat is done, and back in the water. We had a great ride form Avalon back to Wildwood, and as soon as Sea Fox was settled in her slip, we headed back to Albany. It was a long day but everything worked out.
Saturday morning while we still had the rental car; Matt, Ilene, Angel & I drove to Troy NY to go to a farmers market. The farmers market was one of the biggest I have ever been to. It covered several city blocks. Because the rental car had to be back by noon, we only had two hours to shop, but we could have spent several more hours there.
Saturday afternoon we toured the USS Slater, a Destroyer Escort ship that is now a museum. After that we walked to a couple of breweries in downtown Albany.
Sunday morning we will be heading to Waterford NY, the start of the Erie Canal.
