Today we went from Kingston NY to New Baltimore NY. While there was not any one thing that stood out, the ride was spectacular. There were move towns and houses right on the river, than the lower sections. We passed everything from little shanties, to large estates. The one thing they all have in common is the great view. There were also a couple of seemingly randomly placed bulkheads were the were loading crushed rock into barges.
Kingston was a cute historical town. Unfortunately we were not able to see much of what was there. By the time we got the boat tied up, and into town it was after 4pm. The two museums and the art gallery we wanted to see closed at 5pm, and did not open again until Wednesday or Thursday. We did have a nice dinner at a restaurant overlooking Rondo Creek watching all the boat traffic coming in and out of Kingston.
With most of the shops, and the museums being closed Monday and Tuesday we decided to only stay one night. The one gem we did find thanks to the heads-up from Melanie and Justin from Sabot, was the Half Moon Cafe. They make the best doughnuts, and to make it even better, they are made fresh when you order them.
If the weather cooperates tomorrow we head to our first lock of the trip, The Federal Lock at Troy NY, then to Waterford NY, the start of the Erie Canal.

Jo Sounds very cool. I looked up the town of Kingston and saw the cute little lighthouse. What's really cool is that the google-guy jumped in a boat up here and filmed your route on the water. So we can motor along in his boat and follow you up to Waterford, NY. It is very beautiful. Angel! I want to see a pic of you nailing the rope at the first lock pile.
