We had an easy cruise from Scotia to Amsterdam. When leaving we did not have a firm destination planned. The goal was to get near Amsterdam and see what we could find. For those that followed our Great Loop adventure, Riverlink Park in Amsterdam, was where we "attended" the Jr Prom. We did end up right back at Amsterdam, but this year there was no prom.
Once we were secured to the dock, I looked for a barber shop. (This trip I am going to try finding barber shops along the way instead of cutting my own hair.) I found one that was a 10 minute bike ride away. Arriving it looked like an old school barber, and I thought I would not have a problem getting a flat top. After sitting down, the barber said he has never really done a flattop before. I took my chances, figuring its only hair it will grow back. The hair cut turned out pretty good even if it was not a flattop.
After my hair cut, Angel and I headed to Dollar General, the only place in town for any type of groceries. As long as we don't need meat or produce, DG works out pretty well. After meeting Matt & Ilene for lunch in town, Angel and I went for a 12 mile bike ride along the Canalway Trail.
Wednesday we explored town including checking out the Amsterdam Castle Hotel. The Castle dates back to 1827. The Castle is now a hotel and restaurant. They are very use to and accommodating to tourist coming in to check out the Castle. We finished Wednesday by having dinner with all the loopers staying at the Riverfront Marina.
Thursday we will be traveling to Little Falls.
