Early start for drive to Sutherland (southern Sydney suburb) to park car & catch the train into Sydney Central station. Walked through Hyde Park & Botanical gardens - saw Flying Foxes (flying, frying, crying, sighing, … etc!) - to Opera House.
Then on to Circular Quay to catch ferry to Taranga Zoo. Iconic views of Bridge & Opera House from the ferry!
Then onto the skytrain to fly over the zoo, to the entrance.
Spent the next couple of hours in the native wildlife section & attended an informative talk on local spiders! Highlights were the Koalas, Echidnas & Platypus, with a special mention for the reptile section!
Zoo closed at 5pm, so rushed through as much as possible in the last hour (monkeys, giraffes and a single seal!), then back to Circular Quay on the ferry. Walked back through Hyde Park to look at the food festival - but all a bit too pricey! Kids had Subway rolls once back in Sutherland. Drove home, put kids to bed, and D made Spanish Omelet for tea.
