Matt and Ant's Travels
Once again I woke up very late and didn't do a lot all day except sit by the pool until it was time to checkout. I managed to pass the time pretty well in the afternoon by sitting in the sports bar and eating some good food. I ordered just a regular burger which came out as two burger patties which was far bigger then I could fit in my mouth. Time finally came for me to go to the airport and I was getting so excited by now. I think I had forgotten just how long my flight would be! When I was checking in this Tongan woman asked me if she could use one of my bag allowances as she had three bags instead of two. I thought this would be ok as long as it was in her name. It turns out it would be in my name and there was no way I would take someone else's bag. Who knows what she might have in there and I certainly didn't want to get done for drugs running. After waiting a couple of hours I finally boarded the plane and found it was one of the older models which don't have your own video screen or much leg room. It was so uncomfortable. During the night the plane hit some turbulence and dropped about 150 feet. The tension on the plane was unbelievable and I was pretty scared for some time. I left LA on the 29th August spent an hour in Samoa on the 30th August and arrived an hour later in Tonga on the 31st August. It was pretty strange completely losing a day. If you stand on the eastern tip on Tonga it is the only place in the world where you an look into the past. And from the western tip of Samoa you look into the future. As we passed the dateline in the plane I looked out of the window and saw tomorrow....it is a very strange thought.
