I hitchhiked across the Sahara in 1972 from Algiers to Tam to Agadez to Zinder. Tesnou looks like the Holy Mountain where there was a shrine to a prophet -- and it was keopt by the prophet's descendants. Do you recall a Shrine (a square box adobe whitwashed -- with an empty bed inside; and the truckdrivers -- including the one driving my ride -- drove around the shrine 3 times and then stopped to pay homagge to the shrine ...

Hi Alan
No sorry. I don't remember this shrine and there is no mention of it in the blog. I do remember us and the guide taking a lunch time nap behind some rocks at this site in the shade but no bed. So probably not the same Holy Mountain. I do remember the summit of Assekrem (80kms) from Tam which took around 4hrs! last 20kms which climb very steeply over rutted, washed-out track and rocks. Climb from altitude of about 1300m in Tam to about 2600m at the top of Assekrem. From the refuge/camp there is a short walk up to the top of the peak where there is a hermitage (P de Foucauld – French monk/priest?)
