Hello to everyone back in rainy England! Right i'll pick up from where I left of! We went to Koh Samui for 3nights. We arrived on valentines day - aww so romantic i know and we went for a meal and put some washing on! We had an early one and hit the beach the next day. We had finally found somewhere with a breeze (only downside being the sea was very choppy) i know what a problem in life when the sea is too choppy to read in :p
We had a pretty few chilled days on Samui just spending all day on the beach then going out for a quiet meal and back to the room for an early one to do it all again the next day! We met Libby and Katie there on our last night - came back from the beach to find a note slipped under our door sayin "guess who your neighbours are..." we screamed and made ourselves known in true girly fashion and after a mass catch up we all went out for some drinks. Nothing too crazy and we were all saving ourselves for the full moon party but drinks none the less.
Me and Em left the following day (very early) to go to Koh Phangan for 5nights at Seagate Resort and Libby and Katie followed meeting us there the following day. We chilled on the beach waiting there arrival and when they got there we all ventured into Haad Rin were the parties happen. We went in on the 18th (night before full moon) and got some buckets had a little dance then got a taxi back - libby's favourite part of the evening was the taxi AKA rollercoaster down the gravel roads at 100mph! we also met the craziest russian dancer in the world who literally had me doubled over crying with laughter as him and Lib did some make shift dance video together with one leading and the other following then swaping over... honestly funniest man alive!!
On the 19th (full moon) we were all abit fragile after the night before but we made it too the beach (not all of us) and of course made it out after we UV paint session at the beach bar we got ready to hit the buckets again! The full moon party was amzing and there were literally 1000's and 1000's of people there so it was really good. WE danced in pretty much all the bars on the beach and me, Em and Katie went down the death slide but none of jumped through fire ... not daring enough apparently! It was a great night had by all except for the fact that I had my brand new camera (love of my life, baby, pride and joy) stolen :( so for me the night was pretty much ruined! WE returned back to our accommodation in the early hours of the morning after spending a little while at the police station gettin a claim number - language barrier proved difficult! The next day we all had a lie in and then after a good hearty breakfast we ventured down to the beach we had a quiet one that night and the same the next day (our last day together) After saying our farewells :( we all went our seperate ways. Me and Em got a ferry over to Koh Tao.
We arrived at Koh Tao early morning and planning to do our PADI we went of in search of the best place for it. We ended up at Ban's Resort on Koh Tao for 6nights. 4nights included in our PADI price and 4 days diving, one night on the classroom floor amd the last night in the standard fan room. Ban's was tyhe nicest place we have stayed so far and Koh Tao has been my favourite place so far. The island is amazing, we met some really nice people there, the resort was amazing - POOL!!!!! the beach, the food, the night time entertainment (they had an amazing Jam session on the sat night in Fishbowl - the local divers drinking spot.. basically i couldn't have loved it anymore there and will most definately return in the future.
From there we got a 14hour journey to Bangkok. We left Koh Tao at 2.30pm got the boat to Chumphon then a night bust to Bangkok. Arriving in Bangkok at 5.30am we went straight to our hostel even though the Khosan Road was still booming. The hostel only had one bed so we topped and tailed for a couple of hours sleep then got up and ventured into the city.
WE got a tuk tuk around the whole city for 20Baht which is ... 40p so that was pretty sweet and got to see all the sights and that night we went for some food and drinks on the Khosan Road - horrible. We have also been the floating markets which was pretty cool. A small river you go down on a narrow boat and there are market stalls all the way down the river and they all pull your boat in trying to get to you to buy. We also had a tour of the village in which they all live. Again all floating and saw the mango, banana and coconut farms. I am personally not a fan of Bangkok its so sweaty and clammy and everyone is in your face all the time. THe food is horrible and the people are harrassing. I think I would feel different about it if I had arrived here first maybe but to come from all the quieter islands to this is just not that nice.
We leave todat for a 3 day trek in the jungle in Chiang Mai which we are both excited for and much more our thing than this sticky city! WE'll let you no how it all goes
Miss you all loads and post cards on there way
All our love
Soph and Em
