Another couple of weeks have past so we have decided to update you all on our movements :)
I'll start from were Emily left it. We went on a massive job hunt printed out 55 CV's each and handed then out to every possible retail outlet that is in Newtown, Broadway and Sydney. We waited for a call eagerly and luckily one came through giving me a job in the land down under. It is at a shoe shop called Kagui in World Square in Sydney. It is the smallest shop in the world and the shoes are all terrible but money is money and its only for a couple of weeks so it is definately worth it. Em didn't have as much luck on the retail front so she decided to complete her RSA - a licence you require in order to gain any bar work. So she did that last week and then ventured off into the city again loaded with another handbag full of CV's and applied for bar jobs. As I am typing this now she is in Paddy Mcguires on a trial to see if she like the pub so everyone cross your finger for her - i'm sure she'll do fine.
The past couple of weeks we have'nt done anything too exciting to be honest. We have just been looking for work and a place to live. The weather started to pick up a little but its started raining again now and this week it has rained everyday - not ideal! but hopefully it will pick up next week and we get back to bondi for some UV rays :) My shifts at the shop are Wed, Thur and Sunday so the days I havn't been working we have been pottering around. When the weather is nice there is a park right near Liam's house so we go there and sit in the sun and read, chat and listen to music and when it rains we potter around Broadway (walk round Bi Lo or The Reject Shop) or the city. Em had an interview at a Telemarketing company one day but it was a massive con - one of those companies who want you to do door to door sales all day and evening using you own money for expenses and working on commission No thank you! Suffice to say she left there with some speed.
Cara - my friend from Leeds is here travelling with her boyfriend and they are living in Bondi Junction so we have been spending a lot of time over there and have all had a few nights out together, its been really nice. We have been to a club called Home on Darling Harbour were Liam's friend was DJ, we have been to George Street, The Ivy - full of suits straight from work and out for a good night!!!, World Bar in Kings Cross were they serve cocktails in a teapot, Sruffy Murphy's - an Irish bar were we saw a live band play and a reggae night at the pub were Emily has her trial.
The house hunt was ... interesting to say the least. We viewed a lot of properties and they seem to get worse and worse each one we went to. A gorgeous apartment in Pyrmont - owner was a 60 yr old convict addicted to drugs who would be living there aswell - we ran away from that one. An apartment in Surrey hills with one single bed in a Japanese girls room and one single bed in the living room with no door - owner was a 50 yr old unemployed idiot who was over weight and looked like he was on crazy pills. Another one in Bondi junction were there was a casual massage table in the living room and tai chi lessons going on. We saw some other absolute holes but i won't talk about that in case I trigger vomit! We struggled a little as well because a lot of places don't want to rent out to couples but we have found somewhere and its perfect for what we need. Its number 93 William Henry Street. Its perfect location - 2mins walk form Darling Harbour, 10 mins walk to Broadway, 10 mins walk to city only one bus to Bondi and 2min bus journey to Liam's and Tara'a so its in a perfect location. We have the master bedroom with a balcony and a tv with cable and a recorder (Emily is the happiest person alive about this and was defo the feature that sold the property to her) We live with 3 other people who are travellers and one australian they all work full time so in the day the house is quiet. There is a big back yard and that is shared with the house next door but they are all really nice too.
That's it for now really - employed and out of the garage so all in all a successful 2 weeks. Looking forward to the AShes and to xmas - were spending it on Bondi with a beer in one hand and a burger in the other - don't worry we'll put some cranberry sauce on it and i'm, sure we'll see a brusell sprout floating around somewhere!
Were still loving it and can't wait for the weather to pick up (we've seen the snow pictures so er ... ye ... enjoy that and we'll be thinking of you while were sweating on the beach with a VB)
Miss you all and we hope you all stay warm over the cold winter and stay safe on the roads.
Lots of Aussie love being sent your way
