Day Eighty Six - September 30th, 2013
Adelaide
We had a small lie in this morning, and emerged from our cocoon to a grey day with rain on the horizon - our first since the spattering we had some nights in Noosa.
We had a leisurely breakfast and bundled into the car to explore Adelaide city centre. Neither of us are big city goers, so after finding a car park in a frankly overwhelming place (this is our first big city in a while!), we wandered aimlessly around the shops and took in the sights. Adelaide is fun and quirky, with cute cafés, hip restaurants spilling out onto the road and old buildings mixed in with the new. There's clearly a boom in development here, and I love the charm of the place. Definitely a fun stop over for us! We popped into a food court where we snapped up some sushi, and headed back to the car. Elly couldn't wait long enough to get back to the campsite before munching, and I ended up mixing wasabi and soy sauce in the takeaway box on my lap so I could dunk his hand rolls and feed him - like a dog.
I ate at the table like a civilised human being, and we took a short walk down to the beach, which our caravan park backs onto. The wind was blowing but it was lovely to be by the ocean again. A trip to Coles in the now very blustery afternoon to pick up makings of a warming soup, and back home. Our tent had tried to fly away so Elly secured it again. We headed to the kitchen where we got chatting to two families who are travelling together for four weeks. They told us the manager of the park will be leaving the kitchen open tonight, should we need to escape the weather. As we're the only tent on site, the silver lining is that we won't need to fight anyone for space. The bad news is, we're the only ones who will need to get away from the elements. Wish us luck!
