G'day Mate!
So we arrived in Brisbane at around 6pm and we were met by Maddie and Richard, ready to put us up for two nights in their lovely house approximately half an hour away from the airport - and more importantly at the time, away from the floods.
Our first night was spent settling in and enjoying the comforts of home. Sam had, thankfully, given up his room for two nights which we were very grateful for! We had a lovely big room with ensuite, something we hadn't had for a couple of weeks since leaving Phuket. Maddie and Richard laid on a lovely BBQ and had invited their friends over for the evening, who happen to also come from Northampton!
We woke up early the next morning, ready and raring to start the day. Kie began with a morning run - which he left too late (even at 8am) as it was far too hot for him! Sophie had organised the washing into big piles of four loads and began doing them, putting them on the line and repeating the process!! It was so nice to have clothes smell lovely! We decided to do everything in our backpacks to get rid of the musky smell your clothes pick up after three months of being packed! Once we'd got the washing well underway, we all got into the car for a day trip. First stop; Tamborine Rainforest Skywalk, the walk begins on an elevated bridge which takes you through the upper and middle canopies of rainforest! There is also a look-out cantilever which is 30m above Cedar Creek and gives you views overlooking the whole rainforest, it was a great little walk - despite the whole structure moving with every footstep! A short drive later we walked around Eagle Heights where there were little markets and shops to look around before we headed to the MT Brewery and sampled four taster beers - all of which were pretty nasty! After a quick drink we headed home and had some dinner before chilling for the evening - Kie taking up a new spot on the sofa downstairs, glued to the xbox, well .. it has been over three months!
Tomorrow we are off to Rainbow Beach, followed by Fraser Island where we will be camping for a couple of nights! We'll be returning to Brisbane for some more sightseeing and will be in touch then!
Lots of love, Sophie and Kie xx
