G'day Mate!
We arrived in Sydney late afternoon on Tuesday after stopping in Coffs Harbour and Kempsey for short breaks. When we arrived Disco told us our route to the train station and we made our way to Liverpool where Rex was there to pick us up. Just a short drive from Liverpool station and we had arrived at our home for the next few days, followed by a BBQ - yum. On Wednesday we woke up fairly early and decided to head into Sydney to see the sights and finally sort out Sophie's lack of camera situation. After a couple of hours looking around, Sophie made her purchase - swiftly followed by a big purchase by Kie, a DSLR camera. With our new cameras in hand we made our way to the sights of Sydney - the Harbour Bridge, the Opera House and the Botanical Gardens. We were very impressed, and took lots of photos! After spending the whole day in Sydney we decided to catch the train back to Rex and Vicky's. Rex had told us he would take us up to the Blue Mountains on Thursday and we had planned to make an early start, with this in mind we thought we'd have an early night but Chris and Tahlena had other ideas - we stayed up drinking until 3am before we finally hit the sack!
Thursday morning had arrived, a little sooner than we'd imagined! Actually feeling quite spritely we were up and ready to go. We had no idea what a great tour of this part of Australia we were about to do - there's no way we would have seen as much as we did on a paid tour so we were very grateful. We arrived back to the house feeling thoroughly exhausted and had some dinner before chilling for the evening.
Friday came and it was to be our last day in Sydney so we had to do the last sight on the list - Bondi Beach! We headed into Sydney beforehand to try out a famous pie from Harry's Cafe on Wheels which were delicious. With full bellies we got the train to Bondi Junction before hitting the beach! We arranged to meet Jo, who we'd met in Vang Vieng - Laos, so we spent the day catching up whilst doing a spot of sunbathing and enjoying the nice cool breeze. At around 4pm we decided we ought to stop sun worshipping and get back to Rex and Vicky's so, with some cupcakes and beers, we headed back just in time for a spot of dinner. We spent the rest of the evening chatting and packing ready for our early morning rise of 5am! Next stop: Melbourne. It's going to be a three day journey down with two overnight stops so we will be updating you with all the details of our trip in our next blog!
Love you lots, Sophie and Kie xx
