So, after a lazy day mooching, we decided to make our way down to the famous Temple Street Market; without a window in our room we were completely unaware of everything outside and dressed in our t-shirts, 3/4 lengths and flip flops.
It was raining - imagine a sea of umbrellas as a road and then Kie riding the waves!! The problem was not that we were totally drenched but that Kie was getting battered round the head where people would lift their brollies to allow others to pass - we guessed they don't see giants here too often!
We'd left the map back at the hostel - schoolboy error - but knew we had to just keep walking down Nathan Road until we got to Gascoigne Road, easy? Not for us!! Nathan Road is possibly the longest road you could imagine - if you look on a map of Kowloon it just runs on forever! We knew we'd gone too far so, after getting rough directions "walk for 5 minutes (back in the direction we'd came) and then turn right", we trampled back and kept our eyes peeled!
By this point we're dripping and have muddy splash marks up the backs of our legs when we see a sign 'Temple Street Market' aaaahh we made it, we turn the corner to see sellers packing up their stalls, thanks to the rain, some only just starting to set up and a handful of other stalls ready to take our money. Oh Temple Street, you letdown! Still, we got to see the other end of Nathan Road and saw the night sights of Kowloon.
Hong Kong is definitely the place to come if you have money to spend, the streets are lined with top name stores Louis Vuitton, Cartier, Gucci and there was even a queue outside for Chanel! But for us mere travellers, the most we can afford is a £2 "cK" watch. Well, we wouldn't want to lose or break the real thing now would we?!
We'll be blogging again soon from our next stop - Bangkok!
Lots of love Sophie and Kie xx
