we have done so much since wanaka so i will quickly list everywhere we have done as we have to get bck to the camper in 20 minutes before she gets clamped. sorry if spelling is wrong!
In wanaka we spend one night where we went to the recommened cinema to see 'angels and demons'. this cinema had one room filled with sofas, cushions an old beatle and various comfy things to sit on. in the interval you collect the homemade cookies and ice cream or the made to order dinner where you take it back in to the cinema and eat off your lap. it was fun. We had to get new brake pads put on Bess so we stuck around for a bit and enjoyed the rain.
From wanaka we headed to queenstown where after we tried freedom camping in the supermarket carpark and got woken up by a very angry council member threatening to fine us (he kindly didnt), we moved to the campsite. We all loved queenstown and here we had the opportunity to see the raved about kiwi birds in a bird santuary along with various other birds such as the protected london pigeon.
We went on the cable car us the mountain to have a good view all over the town and whilst Libby went on a skiing day Elinor and myself went us to deer park heights to the animal park where we fed alpacas, pigs, goats and loads more animals before doing our washing up on the set of lord of the rings. whilst we were enjoying the view we didnt realise the camper was slowly sinking in the mud and therefore we spent a long time trying to get out of the mud whilst not sliding off the cliff edge. this was definently more scary than sky diving. On one of our three nights there we went to an ice bar where everything was made out of ice surprisingly. this was followed by a trip to the famous furg burger resturant and the world bar where all cocktails are served from teapots.
after queenstown we headed towards milton sounds quite a bit further south. We spent a night in the milford sound lodge where we made eggnog and played monopoly (not an awful lot to do here).it rains 50% of the year so it wasnt a shock that the day of our boat ride out on to the sounds it rained, however even the rain could ruin how beatitful this place was, was irritating that the second we stepped off the boat blu skies appeared. we then went on a walk around lake misteltoe to enjoy the sunshine.
Next stop was dunedin, somewhere elinor has been harping on about ever since we arived in new zealand so it is a relief that we actually made it here. We went straight to the cadbury factory where they gave as loads of chocolate testers and this was great fun. We then were all grateful to see a starbucks which was attachted to a STA travel. here we spent a few hours sorting out our next destination Fiji.
