Emma and Martin's Travels
Hi-di-ho neighbours
We are on the North Island now - we got a flight from Christchurch up to Wellington on Monday morning - picked up a car there - its a Toyota Corolla not half bad - then set off for Taupo.
On Tuesday morning i (martin) did my sky-dive - it was awesome jumping out a plane at 12,000ft - when the doors first open it is pretty scary and it -10degrees up there so bit chilly - but u quickly forget all that after u drop out the side of the plane. I would recommend everyone to try it!
We then visited a waterfall and the 'craters of the moon' which are thermal things? that steam all the time producing big clouds that smell like fart - very nice!
We then headed up to Rotorua - which is surrounded by natural geothermal areas - the smell of fart was much worse here - i really dont know how the locals can get used to it cause it there all the time - and made us feel quite sick at points.
On Thursday morning we went to a Polynesian Spa - apparently one of the top 10 in the world - and relaxed in the pools - u could however see what looked like dead skin in some of the pools which was nice - we got the tickets for free tho so that was good.
We then went to wildlife park and got to stroke a loin cub - there was also some cool pigs and really big trout.
In evening we went to a Mauri show and Hangi (meal) which was pretty good - i had to get on stage and do the haka with the mauri's - not sure i looked that scary next to all those big massive blokes - emma says i was scary but think she just trying to make me feel better - i did get a necklace thing for doing it - very macho!
Today we in Wiatomo at Glow-worm caves - we had to abseil 21m into cave then walked thru the caves in dark to see the glow-worms - very pretty like loads of stars - then floated about on rubber rings. U then had to climb back up out the caves - was a good morning - however the gear we were wearing was not that stylish - hardhats with lights - wetsuits with purple joggers and white wellies - cool!
See ya'll later
