Emma and Martin's Travels
Hi-Di-Ho
Spent about a week in New York staying with Mary - a friend of my (Emma) Aunt May - she has an apartment in Manhattan and she showed us all the sights of the Big Apple.
On our first day we went for an hours harbour cruise around the statue of liberty to get some good touristy photos and some pretty wind swept hair! In the afternoon we spent a good couple of hours in the biggest store in the world Macy's - it has about 8 floors and about 5-6 of them r devoted entirely to women's clothes - heaven! I'm not sure Martin had the best afternoon but I did and thats what matters! After Macy's we got the lift to the top of the Empire State Building where we got an amazing view over the city - Martin then set off the security alarm when going through the anti-theft detector thing cause he was trying to pinch the tourist photo they take of every group that visits the building - haha busted! They just took the photo off him and let us leave which was good!
Next day we went to Times Square which is a pretty cool place - we also went to see the Rockafeller centre where they have the ice-rink at the front in the winter - in summer they have a nice restaurant there where we went for a nice cold drink as it was so hot and humid that day. That evening we went to see Batman Begins at the cinema - it was ok, a bit boring at the start though - Martin enjoyed it - Mary fell asleep at one part which was quite funny!
Following day we went to the Museum of Natural History in the morning - it was quite interesting - Martin liked the dinosaur exhibit best. We then went for walk through Central Park and in the evening went to see Mamma Mia which was really good - Martin was complaining about being made to go and see it however although he won't want to admit it he also really enjoyed it and was singing away to Dancing Queen with the best of them!
Next day - Macy's again to dent the bank balance once more - much to Martin's delight - he went away to other shops this time and let me shop. Mary bought us cute souveniers from Macy's while we were there - i got a Macy's teddy dressed as the statue of liberty and Martin got a Macy's dog. After Macy's we returned to the appartment to change before going out for a lovely meal at the Marriot Hotel restaurant which is called 'The View'. It is on 52nd floor and revolves so that u get a great view of Manhattan - it was a really nice evening.
Next day - we went to a discount designer shop called Century 21 where we got a few good bargains - Martin got a pink tie which he's v pleased with as he's being going on about getting one for a while - i think he thinks its gonna some how improve his chances of getting a job when we get back - here's hoping! The shop was down next to where the world trade centre used to be - it was really sad to c and think about what happened there so we didn't stay too long. Afterwards we went down to the south street sea port to wander round before going out to a nice Chinese restaurant for tea and then to a pub to try a Manhattan cocktail - thought i should try one in Manhattan but it not nice at all - don't know what in it but i wouldn't recommend it!
Next day we were up early to leave for Colorado - had a great time in NYC.
