Tuesday 30th October
We left the hostel to go elsewhere, to be near the city. We found one which was bang in the city! We can see the Auckland Tower very well from the Hostel entrance. We decided to browse around the city, doing the window shopping. The city is very much like London, home away from home. We walked to the harbour to take pictures and to see the bridge.
Before we left for travelling, Daniel's cousin mentioned that there is a bar called Minus 5, a bar that's made out of ice. We searched for it and immediately found it. Decided to visit it tomorrow as we have to make a booking before visiting it.
We then returned back to the hostel, to do the researching on how we should explore around in New Zealand. There are too many options and it took us ages to make a decision (2 days!)
First we thought to hire the campervan so we can do the exploring ourselves. Unfortunately as we are now into the summer season, the rates are very high. We then thought to go on the Kiwi Experience, a guided tour around New Zealand. It took us ages to decide because as the following:
Campervan:
Advantages
Freedom
We go wherever we want to go
Accomendation included
Disadvantages
Petrol Costs
Might get lost!
No discounts on adventures
Too expensive for our liking
Kiwi Experience:
Advantages
Cheaper
Guided Tours
Free Activities
Discounts on Accomendation/Activities
Disadvantages
Missing out information by their guided tours
Not understanding what's happening
Accomendation not included
We weighted the options and decided to go with the Kiwi Experience. There were other guided bus companies but they don't go where we wanted to visit! Before we made a final decision, we thought to visit the travel agent which is based in the hostel to see what they can do for us.
It was stressful, trying to decide what is the best for us to explore around, worse than USA!!
