After a lengthy inland drive to Melbourne, we find a campsite in the suburbs to rest our weary heads, and set up for the night. Tomorrow we catch the overnight ferry to Tasmania, but for now it’s time to catch up on our sleep, washing and admin duties.
We spend our time between checking out of the campsite at 10am the following day and the 8pm ferry in an out of town shopping centre – cruising the coffee shops, putting in some time at the post office and sorting out various bits and bobs that we’ve been putting off until now.
Aside from being able to confirm that campsites in the suburbs of Melbourne are a good place to get a good night’s sleep, and that the shopping centres are both varied and functional, we haven’t really given ourselves a chance to get to know Melbourne – the plan is to give it a much more thorough going over when we get back from Tassie.
So, it’s off on the Spirit of Tasmania for a ten hour ferry through the night...
