The difference between just staying somewhere and really being somewhere is the people!Key Largo is a great place to stay, but getting to know the people makes it very hard to leave. We spent the morning at Woodie's "Tiki Temple" where friends and neighbours gather Sundays for coffee, fabulous snacks, and a good time.In the plethora of things we have seen and done in the past 7 months, it has always been the people who make the difference. Our friends at Key Largo rock! I pray we meet again.
Our slow migration north began with one last visit to the Everglades where Eli had arranged an airboat ride (a rather wet experience), an alligator feeding, and a snake show.Being the supportive mother that I am, I was with him all the way - until the snake petting part.I don't know why I have to face all my phobic issues on this trip! But ophidiophobia is right up there with claustrophobia, arachnophobia, and arithmophobia for me!I did however, as you can see by the beautiful photo of me, hold a snake! Not for long, mind you, but I did hold a real, live, slithery, gross, disgusting, Burmese Ball Python snake!

Betty Kornelsen And I can see the look of glee in Eli's face.
Geni Shields I have a similiar picture...only the snake is around my neck, thanks to my dear husband. My expression is much the same. I actually was pleasantly surprised to know it wasn't slimy to touch. That was a Florida occurence, too.
