Right, well this is the first of four short blogs to fill the two week gap between Kampot, Cambodia and Dalat, Vietnam. As I'm sure any other traveller will testify, it is far too easy to get swept along on your own personal 'journey', and completely forget to communicate with anyone for a weeks at a time...
Kep was our last stop before crossing the border into Vietnam. Following our beach theme of the last couple of weeks, Kep is yet another seaside town with it's own personality. From what I have heard, some people hate this sleepy little town, practically void of westerners -- finding the run-down and deserted resorts strangely eerie -- others, like us, find it refreshingly peaceful.
The highlights for me were the crab -- going down to the seafront food market is a huge must -- and staying at Botanica, a pretty swish mini resort with an ultra-modern pool and our own bungalow (stone this time, with our own porch complete with lounger and hammock). The latter being a bribe for being dragged up a 200m climb through the national park by David; this was serious stuff...it was such a scramble that routes were equipped with ropes to help you haul yourself up!
