Tuesday 22nd Jan (Sydney)
Today we woke up to sunshine!! YAY - Bondi Beach here we come!! :)
We had some breakfast and set off to get the train and bus. We didnt't have to wait long and we jumped on the train and then onto a bus and it was a short drive to the beach.
First view of the beach i thought WOW! I just couldn't wait to get in the sea!! Once we hopped off the bus we ventured to buy some cheap beach towels.
We then made our way to the beach. We brought along our free umbrella that we got with our suncream, as we thought it would be a good idea to have a little shade.
We walked onto the beach, the sand wasn't as hot as i'd expected which was good :) We found a spot near the sea and put our things down. We put the umbrella in the ground. However.. all of a sudden our umbrella took of with a gust of wind and hit Alice in the face. We had a bit of a giggle and then attempted to put the umbrella back into the ground, this time putting our things around it to make it more secure.
We all headed down to the sea as it was getting really hot. We were told by the lifeguards however that we couldn't swim in this part of the sea due to the currents, so we had had a little paddle up to our knees.
The next thing we looked over and our umbrella had taken off in the breeze again and was making its way across the beach - s***! We started to run across the beach to catch it and an Australian woman caught it for us and put it down.. How embarrassing!! We apologised of course and decided to throw the crappy umbrella away! Ha.
We did some sunbathing and then headed towards some cafe's for a bit to eat. After we ate it went a little overcast. We made our way back to the beach, but it stayed cloudy and got more windy, so we eventually decided to call it a day at Bondi.
We got the bus and train back and on our way up the escallators Chel noticed that Al's dress was tucked into her pants so everyoe below her could see her bum! - Oh dear. poor Al! We headed to our hostle, freshened up and had an early night.
We would be catching the Greyhound bus to Byron Bay the next day (a 12 hour bus journey), good job it was through the night..
Wednesday 23rd Jan (Sydney)
Today we checked out of Chiliblue. But left our rucksacks there for the day, as we weren't catching our bus until 7pm. We had a walk around town and I posted my UGG's home (which will take about 60-90days). We found a pub that did $10 steaks, so we all had a steak at 11am - starting early! Ha. And then on our way back through town we came across Wicked Travel. Here we spok to a guy called Craig and he told us all about the different packages they could put together for activities/places to visit along the East Coast in Oz.
We booked our itinerary for the rest of our stay in Oz, which i'm sure i'll write about as we go along :) Our next stop is Byron Bay and after that Surfers Paradise. We'll then head onto Brisbane, where we have 2 nights accommodation, a visit to the Zoo (YAY), 2 breakfasts or dinners and a welcome drink. After that we will then head to Noosa, where we have a free canoe/camping trip at Noosa Evaglades thrown in for booking with Wicked Travel. From Noosa we will travel to Hervey Bay and have 2 nights accomodation and 3 days/2 nights camping on Fraser Island, then we can return there for a free bonus day at a 5* hotel - Hell Yeah!! After Fraser Island, we head towards Airlie, stopping at maybe Bunderburg and 1770 on the way. Once we get to Airlie Beach we will do the Whitsundays Avatar Cruise 3 days/ 2 nights on the Yacht and do some snorkelling - I'm a little nervous about this to say the least. After maybe staying another night at Airlie Beach we will then head to Mission Beach to do our Skydive :) and from Mission Beach we will then head on to Cairns, where we will be doing our introductory scuba dive in the Great Barrier Reef! - I'm already s***ting myself about this and not sure i'll be able to actually put myself through it!? But i've got to give it a try right, i'm only here once!!
So now we have got a LOT of things to look forward to and a busy month ahead of us!! :)
