Ni hao! Welcome to Ken and Siobhan's travel blog! We are excited to be leaving from Hamilton to Toronto Airport in just a few hours. Our plan leaves at 1:40 am on April 29 and our direct flight is scheduled to arrive in Hong Kong on April 30 after a flight of something like 36 hours. As if that weren't enough, we're then hopping on another flight to Shanghai, hoping to arrive in time for May Day. We may or may not return June 1 depending on whether or not we can still stand each other's company...

If you read this message before we leave home, please do NOT bring over any of your Chinese appliances that are malfunctioning. Some friends have already tried (unsuccessfully).

Once in Shanghai, we will be making a side trip to Huangshan Mountain to climb 5000 steps to the summit to our hotel (a must-see according to the Lonely Planet.) Following that three day excursion, we leave for the ancient capital of Nanjing and then to Wuhan, a steel city like Hamilton. From there, if we can find a berth, we will cruise up the Yangzi River to Chongquin. After Chongquin, we do the Terra Cotta warriors at Xi'an. And then, it's off to the Forbidden City of Beijing and what Siobhan really wants to do: run a mnarathon along the Great Wall of China for its complete length (1500 Km.) (in one go!)

If we have any energy left, it's back to Hong Kong to climb Victoria Mountain and some retail therapy.
