And to begin! How exciting! This is a little strange for me as I've always been one to see blogging as a little narcissistic, or self-indulgent. Having now spoken to my good friends Eland and Alex on the topic, I've come to realise that it can be used to help appreciate the amazing things we have in our lives, and to keep loved ones 'in the loop' in a more personal kinda way, so here goes nothing!
Tonight is an evening in, by the looks of it. 'The Girls' are out on the town, bar the beautiful Erica, who I hope gets better soon! I think a quiet night in front of the heater (what was that Melbourne, spring time? I think not!) with our set ethnography is the way forward this evening :). Anna Tsing is truly an amazing anthropologist, I won't get my nerd on too loudly in my first blog, but I will say that she's a must-read!
In another note it was amazing to speak to my mum today! She never fails to amaze me. I always hope that I have somehow inherited her amazing ability to be kind-hearted, pragmatic and driven all within the same instance. I can truly see why so many people look to you in times of need and see you as a truly inspirational woman. :). I'm one lucky daughter!
On a note that will probably shock my mother, and anyone else that knows me, my picture for the day is of my room. This is a celebration of truly finding a place in which I feel happy and comfortable, and ready to embark on so many beautiful journeys. It's also a reference point for when I decide to throw all of my belongings on the floor! I painted the canvas myself - it's a line from 'I Gave You All' by the british band Mumford and Sons.
Looking forward to yoga tomorrow. Alex is joining me for the first time, and I think Doug and Gemma may be joining too! I hope our wonderful teacher, Matilda gets better soon, so that she can join us for an epic Saturday morning sesh with the amazing Peter ujvari (look him up!)
Sleep well/ have a great day everyone!
