Recharged, up and ready for another fun packed day down under. I had the theme tune from Men At Work floating around in my head... 'do you come from a land down under'? bla bla bla bla bla. We had a leisurely start to the day. Mark kindly dropped us off in the centre of town. We walked several streets taking in the sites of the city. Ju read her guide book as usual whilst I clicked away on the camera. There was plenty for us to feast our eyes on. We saw the usual array of city centre buildings ranging from the parliament buildings to China town.
We stopped of for a Subway sandwich thinking this was a cheap option. However we spent 30 bucks - not the cheapest of options considering we passed through China town an hour later. The smells from various oriental restaurants teased us and reminded us what could have been for our taste buds. Oh well, we were due to have a lamb roast back at the Olivers later - the lighter option of a sandwich was probably the best decision. The city had quite a few familiar sights which reminded us of home. There are a few differences though, like the American style traffic lights, road signage and the larger style saloon cars driving around. We stopped off along our walk to view a sweet making demonstration in a shop aptly named Sugar. You could see the large letters which looked clunky being stretched to form the more familiar looking stick of rock style writing in the hard boiled sweets. Ju bought me a lolly pop which tasted yummy. Walking around town looking like a complete plonker I sucked my large lolly and clicked away with my camera - who cares!? Ju wanted to stop for a hot chocolate, this was my cue for a beer. Unfortunately shortly after placing our order Jess rang to say she was at the meeting point ready to pick us up. Ju never got her hot chocolate, however I still managed to get my cider and an extortionate price!
Feeling slightly sleepy from my afternoon tipple I decided to have a kip. Ju walked Elvis the family dog in the park opposite the house. I awoke to the smell of roast lamb. We enjoyed a fantastic roast - one which could rival my mums, and that's saying something. Jess was touched that her roast was compared to mum's roast. We had an evening of leisure catching up with family on Skype. I managed to speak with Mum and Dad along with Heidi who was noisy and full of charge. Heidi announced over Skype that as she wasn't staying with Nan in the week then it made sense to open her advent calender in advance to eat the chocolate... cheeky just like my sister when she was little. It was good to hear from family. I haven't heard anything from my friends apart from some birthday ping pong comments from Nathan, Matt and Matty W. I am not sure my posts are showing up on Facebook or whether people are too busy back home - probably the latter?. I enjoyed sitting watching TV sipping a few beers before bed. The Olivers had been very kind to us and made us feel very welcome here. I was looking forward to getting on the road tomorrow and seeing some more of Oz.
